Let’s talk about eSports! Something that started as a microsegment in the video game industry has grown to the point where it’s an industry itself that has massive growth year over year. In fact, in my opinion it will redefine what electronic competition means for upcoming generations and I am certain that future celebrities will be eSports players, at the same level of Messi, like sport players or Hollywood stars.

But what are eSports or electronic sports? We are usually referring to organized, competitive video game events, typically between professional players. Traditional video games, on the other hand, refer to games played primarily for entertainment and leisure, and are not typically organized into competitions with professional players. The main difference is the competitive aspect. Keep in mind that the eSport world can have professional players and also amateur players. An analogy to fully understand this would be any sport, soccer for example, where there are thousands of players that play professionally and millions that play at the amateur level.

Participating in eSports can offer a wide range of benefits for players. One of the biggest is the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that comes from competing and winning against other skilled players.

This applies to both, professional and amateur alike. Pros will have the added benefit of being able to make money in the form of prizes or get a salary if they are playing for a specific club or team, also known as Gaming Houses.

In addition to the psychological benefits, eSports can also have physical benefits. Many eSports require fast reflexes and quick decision-making, which can help improve hand-eye coordination and reaction time. Additionally, many competitive games require players to think strategically and make complex decisions, which can help improve problem-solving skills and cognitive function. There is a caveat here, that is sedentarism, one of the biggest issues this industry faces is convincing players, pros and amateurs, that body and mind goes hand in hand. We are now seeing the top gaming houses investing in Chefs, for balanced diets, gyms and sports psychologists.

Esports can be a great way to make friends and connect with people from all over the world who share your interests. This might sound trivial but is not, because it has a direct impact on social interaction at a global scale. Esports have been helping bridge the gap between races, gender and even disabilities.

At Mokens League we are building casual eSports that are aimed at gamers that want to enter this competitive landscape and current professional and amateur eSports players that want to jump in on a new game that works on PC, mobile and eventually consoles.

In addition to this, if we bring in blockchain technology we can offer new ways of ownership and earnings opportunities to our users. I believe that we can contribute to a better future for gamers.
